Your mom is the one that got you joined up to this church, so she is the one who should be doing the explaining. If she doesn't have a sensible answer, tell her to go and get one and get back to you when she has it because you want to hear the answer from her, not from an Elder.

Should I meet with the elders?
by winnie12 inso i posted my story somewhere on this board but long story short i have been expressing my doubts to my mom who is a jw.
i have been fading since december 2013 and went to a sunday meeting for the first time maybe two weeks ago.
i went only because i wanted to use the library that my hall has which had books published by the society from the early 1900's.

I have to disagree with Losingit. That's what I did. In hindsight, it was a mistake.
If you want to have any sort of half decent relationship with your parents, and not be a Dub, you have to make them confront the difficult questions before you leave home .... and I mean THEM, not the Elders. They got you into this mess, so don't let them abrogate their responsibilities as parents by passing the buck to the chief idiot in the asylum.

They're worried that you might read one of their loopier WT articles stoned and suddenly realise how silly it all is.

despite me showing him the changed Bible, the vaccination stuff, the organ transplant stuff, that they predicted so many things that never took place,
If what you are doing didn't work last time, what makes you think it'll work next time?
You are doing what the WT warned them to watch out for. Every time you talk to a Dub, you have to look for a way to get around the wall the WT built for them to hide behind, not throw yourself at it. Get clever. Learn from your mistakes.
....and if you do find a chink in their armour don't let it slip away by distracting them with other topics. Hammer away at that one chink. Make them lie. Make them explain the lie. Make them do the talking. You need them to tell you TTATT and they can't do that while you're doing all the talking.

Do modern JWs not already know that?
Questions should ecourage the JW to go and do research and find answers they were not expecting. I recently asked a cocky JW a question about Jeremiah 25:12. He took it as a challenge to find out the answer. That was two months ago and he hasn't been back, so I guess it wasn't as easy as he thought. When/if I see him again, I won't be asking a different question, I'll be asking the same one.

Telling JWs TTATT just IDs you as The Enemy, so don't expect a stampede for the KH door when you tell your cuzzies.
You can get away with asking questions, but expressing opinions that they don't want to hear just results in them blocking you out. Ask enough of the right questions and they might just work out TTATT for themselves.

She recruited you into the church.
She talked you into getting baptised.
She didn't warn you about all the prophetic failures by it's leaders etc. etc. etc., you know what to bring up here.
Now, you've got questions that you want her to answer. Not her church leaders ... HER. If she doesn't know the answers, you'll wait while she gets them for you. If she doesn't want to get them for you, you want to know why not, from HER.
Tell her to call the dogs off because you are not going to be bullied into pretending to believe this load of cobblers by her church leaders. Ask her if she wants you to be dishonest and pretend you believe what you know is BS just so that she can have a kid that hasn't been thrown out of her failed doomsday church.

When A Fellow Apostate Goes Insane, What Can We Do To Help?
by RottenRiley ini don't know how to handle the situation with a fellow apostate who has lost their mind due to this evil cult.
this guy is texting many of the elders under alias of six different cell-phones no less than twenty times a day.. .
we had to change the locks at the kingdom hall because he was still stalking and prowling around the hall after advertsing he had left the kingdom hall and we were all no less than mind-dead zombies sucking out of the life of thinking individuals.

Blip! The radar has blipped. I'm on it. 'chat' booked in for Sunday.......
by Captain Blithering ina young, progressive, kind elder wants to have a chat with me on sunday after the meeting.
we've talked before and been quite open about the judgemental attitudes 'we' have as witnesses, and he was completely in agreement, stating that he's never understood the beard thing among other issues, and wants to see the society moving forward by change..
i've no doubt he just wants to encourage me to up my hours or reach out again, but it's nerve wracking, as i know i'll say something i'll regret.

You can probably get away with asking a question, but expressing an opinion, especially one he won't like, should be saved until he's knocking on your door asking for your help.
